Sporting Lagos vs Kano Pillars: Noisy Lagosians face Pillars test

Action continues today in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as newcomers Sporting Lagos face a tough test against visiting Kano Pillars on matchday 7 of the 2023/24 season at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The Noisy Lagosians head here following their defeat on the road against Kwara United, while the visitors breezed past Bayelsa United at home.

Newly promoted Sporting Lagos haveNPFL been in impressive form despite making an entrance into the NPFL this season.

Paul Offor’s Sporting Lagos secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Niger Tornadoes in NPFL matchday 5 but lost 2-1 to Kwara United in an away fixture on matchday 6.

Sporting Lagos sit 11th place with 8 points from six matches and in the NPFL table. The Lagosians have managed two wins, two draws and lost two matches, scored six goals and conceded five goals.

Visiting Sai Masu Gida are in ninth place on nine points from six matches on the NPFL standings, with three wins and three defeats.

Pillars have lost all their games on the road this season, scoring once and conceding six goals.

The visitors head here after trashing Bayelsa United (3-0) at home. Abdu Maikaba’s side has always been a great team on their turf but has not been consistent in away fixtures.

Sporting Lagos striker, Junior Lokosa, has been struggling to impress this season and has managed to score one goal in six appearances this season.

The striker who joined the NPFL newcomers at the start of the season from Remo Stars has been seriously criticised for goal drought and will be hoping to fire the home side to victory.
