The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has intervened in bridging a critical healthcare gap in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, with the donation of a fully-equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This donation comes as a corporate social responsibility of RCCG Region 36 to relieve residents of its host community, who previously had to travel over 15 kilometres to access ICU services.
The unit is named Enoch and Folu Adeboye Intensive Care Unit and is equipped with a ventilator, six units of crank electric beds, a multi-parameter monitor, an infusion pump, a suction machine, and an oxygen concentrator.

Dele Jaiyeoba, presiding pastor for the region said it was a demonstration of the church’s commitment to serving the community and alleviating people’s suffering.
He hopes the new ICU unit will not only save lives by providing critical care to patients but also significantly reduce the burden on families forced to travel long distances for essential medical care.
“We tasked ourselves to ensure that our regional CSR programme should be of great impact to our host community. The closest ICU available is at Ikeja, about 15.7km away from here. It is practically difficult to sustain a critical patient’s life through this distance between Ikeja and Alimosho. We trust God that the unit will serve to reduce the mortality rate in our community,” Jaiyeoba said.

Dapo Soyinka, medical director, Alimosho General Hospital said the population of Alimosho has suffered a lack of efficient, functional, and affordable intensive units in the area.
He noted that referrals have always had to be made to LASUTH or LUTH, which has always been frustrating.
“A friend of mine who runs ambulance services had to knock down a woman while rushing to pick up a patient. The woman became unconscious and when we called, LUTH and LASUTH were fully booked,” he explained.
