As children, we were drawn to movie characters like moths to flames. These characters were our heroes, our role models and even our friends. They made us laugh, cry, and made us believe in magic.

Even years later as adults, these movie characters still hold a special place in our hearts. They remind us of simpler times when our imaginations were wild and our dreams big.
This article pays tribute to those characters who made growing up magical.

Simba and Friends from “The Lion King”


Hakuna Matata!!! Who can forget the adventures of Simba, Timon and Pumbaa in the Pride Lands. The Lion King not only gave us great songs that we sang along to but it provided us with unforgettable life lessons. Simba’s journey from a young cub to a wise king resonated with people across all ages. The wise and witty Rafiki who reminded us that “The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it” would certainly never be forgotten.

Barbie


Barbie has always been the ultimate fashionista for several generations. We did not only admire her style, we sang along to every song and pretended to be Barbie ourselves sometimes. With her magical adventures in : “Barbie Fairytopia: Mermaidia”, to her island escapades in “Barbie:The Island Princess”, she showed us that dreaming big is where the fun begins. Like she once said “In this small corner of the world, anything is possible”.

Woody and Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story”


Toy story transported us to a place where toys came to life when humans aren’t present. Woody and Buzz taught us the true value of friendship and their witty banter had both kids and adults in stitches. The movie showcased the themes of friendship, loyalty and the journey to finding one’s place in the world. As Woody himself would say “You’ve got a friend in me”.

Tom and Jerry


For over 80 years, the crazy cat-and-mouse team has been cracking us up. With their silly pranks and never ending chases, they have given us loads of laughs and some pretty cool lessons too, like never giving up, always bouncing back and finding fun in the little things. And you know what Jerry always says “”I’m not afraid of you, Tom!” This fearless attitude of our favorite mouse teaches us that no matter how big the challenge we should face it with courage and determination.

Scooby Doo


“Ruh-Roh!”If there is one character that has been solving mysteries with humor, antics and an insatiable hunger for snacks it’s Scooby Doo. Along with his gang of teenage detectives – Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy, Scooby Doo embarked on countless adventures to unmask ghosts, monsters and criminals behind spooky costumes and outfits. And in Scooby Doo’s own words “I’m a scaredy-cat, but I’m not a quitter”.

So the next time you are opportuned to watch one of these classic movies, let the memories of the good ol’ days come rushing back,and enjoy the fun, laughter these characters brought into our lives.
