Former international Kanu Nwankwo has announced a new partnership between the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) and Power Oil Nigeria. The collaboration is aimed to enhance the foundation’s open-heart surgery program through the campaign titled “Together We Can Save A Heart.”

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lagos, Kanu lauded Power Oil for their initiative and called on all Nigerians to support the cause.

“Every bottle of Power Oil purchased translates to more hearts being saved by the foundation,” Kanu stated.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Kanu added, “When I was down and all hope was lost, I bounced back, and now I am giving back to society. We have conducted nearly 667 heart operations, and partnering with Power Oil will help us save even more lives.”

Kanu further noted the goal of building hospitals in Nigeria to reduce the need for patients to seek expensive medical treatment abroad. “With over 200 patients on our waiting list, having more hospitals in Nigeria would significantly help. This partnership with Power Oil is a win-win, as their vision of promoting heart health aligns perfectly with our mission to help people with heart problems.”

The 1996 Olympics gold winner also shared his experiences of seeking support, “Many doors have been closed, but the same doors often reopen when they realize the urgent need. The heart is the most critical part of the body; when it stops, so does life.”

Representing Tolaram Group, makers of Power Oil, Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager, Ashiwaju Temitope, reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting healthy living through their products and campaigns. “The Kanu Heart Foundation’s integrity and impact over the years have been impressive. We decided that a portion of every Power Oil bottle sold will go towards supporting KHF, ensuring that people with heart conditions receive the necessary care.”

Abiola Awe, Communication Adviser for Non-Communicable Disease Alliance Nigeria (NCD), also praised Power Oil’s initiative, highlighting the importance of preventive measures against heart disease.

“Power Oil’s commitment to health is exemplary. Their support for the Nigerian Heart Foundation and initiatives like the cardiac-emergency response boxes have been vital. We can prevent heart diseases through basic lifestyle and dietary changes, and Power Oil’s efforts in this regard are commendable.”
