Breaking: INEC issued Certificate of Return to Uzodinma

The yet to be inaugurated  Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has assured people of the State that he would work assiduously to provide dividends of democracy to the people of Imo state.

Uzodinma, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was declared Governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court on Tuesday gave this assurance Wednesday while collecting the Certificate of Return as Governor- elect issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Certificate of Return was issued to him by May Agbamuche-Mbu, INEC National Commissioner, South/South at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.

Addressing journalists shortly after collecting the Certificate which qualifies him for inauguration, Uzodinma said he would be committed to meeting the huge expectations of his people who voted for him against all odds.

He dedicated the Supreme Court victory to God and the judiciary for ensuring that the people of Imo state have not been denied their choice of leadership.

“We thank Almighty God that at the end of the day, through his mercy, the wish and the mandate of the people of Imo State who came out and voted for our great party, the APC and myself for this election and at the end of the day, their wishes have been acknowledged and recognized.

“So we owe this victory to Almighty God, we owe it to functional judiciary and our judiciary is working. There are other challenges as a party and even as a candidate and now a governor to ensure that the reasonable expectations of the people, the citizenry are not disappointed.

“This is the part of our democratic processes that after every election there must be fraud here and there, injustices here and there and you develop the skills and the strength to follow through litigations and that is what we did. The Supreme Court used the eagle eyes of the law and they give us justice.

“So we thank God that today we have justice and so much excitement down there in Imo the people are happy – is a manifestation of the expectations. I owe them a great deal of work to ensure that those expectations, those democratic dividends, those things they believe I will do as a governor, God’s willing, I will do it to a conclusive end”.
