Ikeja Electric Plc. (IE), one of Nigeria’s leading Electricity Distribution Companies, has partnered with PEP Stores, a multinational retail company, to enable customers pay electricity bills or recharge their account at designated PEP Stores across Lagos.
The partnership would allow post-paid and prepaid customers within IE network pay their bills and recharge their accounts while doing regular shopping in PEP Stores located in Gbagada, Maryland Mall, Ipaja, Isolo, Allen Avenue, Ikorodu, Ogba, Awolowo Way, Ojodu Berger, Idimu, Amuwo Odofin, Ogudu and Ikeja City Mall. Lagos.
Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu, Acting Chief Commercial Officer of Ikeja Electric, at a press briefing last week in Lagos said the essence of providing array of payment options and outlets, that offer reliable and convenience services to customers, was borne out of the company’s customer-centric approach to service delivery.
“The collaboration between Ikeja Electric and PEP Store demonstrates our passion to consistently improve service and make energy available to consumers,” he said.
Obi-Chukwu also added that another benefit of this partnership was that customers could also take advantage of the weekend when most of the outlets open to purchase token for energy or pay bills, just as they shop for other needs.
The PEP Stores Country General Manager, Kofo Awonuga, explained that the retail store national footprint has made it a partner of choice to offer convenience of payment to electricity consumers.
Customers can also choose to pay for electricity with cash or Point of Sales (POS) transaction at the designated PEP Stores. The transaction platform is provided by First City Monument Bank.
To pay for electricity bills at the designated PEP stores, prepaid and post-paid customers will provide their account number and make payment after which a receipt is issued for the transaction.
Last week, Ikeja Electric also announced the graduation of 40 youths from its capacity-building empowerment scheme and skill acquisition programme which it collaborated on with SLOT foundation to equip participants to be economically and socially responsible.
The programme tagged Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is one of IE’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives targeted at equipping youth who are mainly residents of host communities with skills necessary to lead productive lives.
At the graduation ceremony held on Wednesday, July 10 at the corporate headquarters of IE, Anthony Youdeowei, Chief Executive Officer of the Disco said the company had demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of lives of residents in the area of its operations.
According to Youdeowei, IE’s dedication to elevating the livelihood of members of its host communities is evidenced by the impact of its Personal Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR) initiatives across its network since inception.
The Managing Director of Slot Systems Limited, Nnamdi Ezeigbo, expressed delight at the partnership with IE, which he described as a collaboration of value.
The training session which lasted for three months was held at the Slot Academy and participants were selected from across the Ikeja Electric host communities.
Participants were trained in computer, phones and accessories maintenance and repair as well as business entrepreneurship ideas web design, hosting and maintenance.
