Reports from Italy suggest that English Premier League side Chelsea are reportedly preparing to make a €90m bid to secure the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the next summer transfer window.

According to Italian media Il Mattino, the Blues are poised to launch a bid of €90m to acquire the services of the Nigerian striker at the end of the 2023/24 football season.

The report also suggests that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis may consider accepting an offer below Osimhen’s €130m release clause, given Osimhen’s desire to leave the club.

BusinessDay reported on Monday that Osimhen has agreed personal terms with Chelsea, indicating the London club’s strong interest in securing his signature during the upcoming transfer window.

The Nigeria international recently signed a contract extension until June 2026 and the new deal includes a release clause of €130m. However, Il Mattino claims De Laurentiis could accept an offer below the release clause given that Osimhen has already expressed a desire to leave the club.

Despite Osimhen’s recent contract extension until June 2026, which includes a release clause of €130m, Il Mattino reports that De Laurentiis could accept offers below the release clause, given Osimhen’s desire to leave the club.

Chelsea has long been rumoured to be seeking reinforcements in the striker position, and intermediaries are already in discussions with Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, to facilitate a move for the former Lille striker.

Osimhen boasts an impressive goal-scoring record, with 72 goals in 125 appearances for Napoli since 2020, making him an attractive prospect for the London club.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles striker has already netted 13 goals across all competitions this season, indicating his potential to significantly enhance Chelsea’s attacking prowess.

While Chelsea faces competition from other clubs, including Arsenal and PSG, in the pursuit of the Nigeria international, their ability to secure a deal of this magnitude may hinge on their qualification for European football next season.
