The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals is set to take place at the Mohamed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday, January 27.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles, three-time African champions, have been seeded in Pot 1 alongside Egypt (seven-time winners), Ivory Coast (defending champions and three-time winners), Algeria (two-time winners), Morocco (hosts and 1976 champions), and Senegal (2021 champions).
The 2025 AFCON tournament will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, marking the first time the competition spans two calendar years. Morocco, hosting for the first time since 1988, was initially awarded hosting rights for 2015 but withdrew due to the Ebola outbreak.

They have won the trophy three times (1980, 1994, and 2013), finished as runners-up five times, and secured bronze on eight occasions. The team has played 104 matches in the tournament’s history, ranking fourth overall behind Egypt, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
