NYSC member donates educational materials to indigent students in Kogi

Blessing Titilayo Akinnusoye, a youth corps member serving her fatherland under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme, has launched a personal Community Development Service (CDA) to some indigent students with sound academic prowess in Army Day Secondary School in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.

Speaking shortly after the launch at the Graduation Ceremony of Army Day Secondary School, Lokoja, Akinnusoye said when she came on board Army Day Secondary School, she noticed that some students were indigent that they couldn’t afford school fees, lockers and chairs, school uniforms and PTA levies, but the concerned students were academically sound.

Akinnusoye stated that after interacting with the Principal, Salami Moses, she announced her intention to those in her Department and they agreed to help her as they budgeted #540,000 but they were able to raise #400,000, which covers six lockers and chairs, 15 school uniforms and PTA levies for 15 students and others.

She commended H . I. Dazuki, a Brigader-General and NYSC Commandant as well as other sponsors, who supported her, while she prayed that those academically sound students would continue to excel in all their endeavours.

In a related development, Salami Moses, the Principal of Army Day Secondary School cried for help, pointing out that the School needed urgent attention, just as he urged all and sundry to assist them in whatever capacity to alleviate the suffering of the students

He said some of the classrooms didn’t have doors windows and ceilings adding that their multi-purpose Science Laboratory was ill-equipped while the School has no Examination Hall for their external examinations.
