The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has postponed the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) programme , it will now hold from 19 June – 3 July.
The examinations were earlier scheduled to hold from 5th to 19th June .
The Board also approved the extension of the ongoing UTME registration which is wqs scheduled to end today, 15th May by two weeks. The deadline is now May 29.
The Registrar of JAMB, Is-haq Oloyede, addressing newsmen on Saturday, after a 2 day stakeholders meeting in Abuja, said the extension was necessitated by challenges experienced by candidates while registering for the UTME.
These according to him, includes difficulties with National Identification Number (NIN) registration and the generation of profile codes by prospective candidates.
Oloyede, had on Friday 14th May disclosed that over 600,000 prospective candidates experiencing this difficulty have not registered, and the board would have meetings with critical stakeholders to proffer solutions. He noted that the primary difficulty experienced by candidates is in getting and linking their NIN.
The registrar also announced that the mock examinations will now take place on May 29, 2021. The mock examinations was is initially slated to hold Thursday May, 2021.
The essence of the mock examination is to enable the board test its system and also enable candidates test their ability, the registrar had said.
