LASUBEB commences personnel audit exercise for schools in Lagos

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has commenced the conduct of personnel audit exercises in all nursery, primary, and junior secondary schools for both public and private schools in the state.

The exercise is in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Federal Ministry of Education, Nation Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE), National Bureau for Statistics (NBS), National Population Commission (NPC), State Ministry of Education, Civil Society Organisation (CSO) and Association of Private School Proprietors (APSP) is expected to last till Saturday, June 25, 2022.

According to Wahab Alawiye – King, the executive chairman of LASUBEB the exercise is not for tax, billing, and/or an attempt to sanction schools, but purely for personnel auditing.

“This personnel audit is not for tax and billing purposes. This exercise is simply for comprehensive data gathering and not an attempt to sanction schools but to track the achievements of relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and feed data into the national data bank to strengthen basic education management information system for national and global reporting,” he stated.

Alawiye-King disclosed further that the national personnel audit exercise is aimed at obtaining comprehensive and reliable data on pupils in basic education in order to reduce the number of out–of–school children; determine the number of schools locally and nationally; and establish a basic education data bank.

Moreover, the LASUBEB executive chairman explained that the exercise will among other things help the obtain to obtain the number and qualification of teaching and non–teaching staff in the basic education institutions nationwide; determine the key performance indicators in the basic education sub-sector; and determine the number, qualifications, and distribution of SUBEBs and LGEAs personnel.

Besides, he stressed that the board will through this audit exercise obtain reliable and verified data for accessing the impact of basic education delivery; and generate data for effective national and global reportage.

Alawiye-King, therefore, appeals to all public and private primary and junior secondary schools (unity, faith-based, military, para-military, and international school) owners in Lagos State to cooperate with the enumerators for effective data gathering.

Particularly, he appealed to the coalition of private school owners in Lagos State to the programme adequate awareness and ensure that their members participate in the exercise as they stand to gain massively and improve their careers through the various expositions that will take place during this period.

“Our mantra remains, ‘leave no child behind, carry all stakeholders along,” he said.
