KOTA CEMPAKA berthing shows Onne Port ready for large ship calls

KOTA CEMPAKA berthing in Onne Port

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has again demonstrated its readiness for large ship calls with the successful berthing of a container vessel with a Length Overall (LOA) of 300 metres at the Onne Port Complex.

The vessel christened ‘KOTA CEMPAKA’ with International Maritime Organization (IMO) number 9638965 sailing under the flag of Singapore shipped in 566 laden containers, was received in Onne Port on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Responding to the development, Mohammed Bello-KoKo, managing director of the NPA, said the berthing of the vessel is a confirmation of the capacity and readiness of Eastern Ports for vessel traffic.

“This also shows that our investments in channel navigability and security are yielding results. We will sustain our advocacy for the patronage of the Eastern Ports,” he said.

Coming after the berthing of Maersk Stadelhorn also measuring 300 Meters LOA and MV Lady Jane with 295 Meters LOA, this development shows Onne Port is poised to sustain its growing fortunes.
