Fubara meets Tinubu, keeps mum on Rivers crises

Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State, on Thursday, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor, who arrived at the Presidential Villa about 5:35 pm, met the president for over 30 minutes, possibly on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State

Fubara, however, refused to speak on the purpose of his visit to the president

A source, however, told BusinessDay that the meeting was not unconnected with the implementation of the resolution reached with the group loyal to Nyesom Wike, former governor of the state and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Fubara had assured that he would implement all the 8-point agreement he signed during his last visit to the Villa.

When cornered by State House journalists after the meeting with President Tinubu, Fubara pleaded to be allowed to speak after the Supreme Court ruling in his governorships on Friday.

The Supreme Court has reserved a ruling in his gubernatorial case on Friday, January 12.

Fubara has been having a running battle with his political godfather, Nyesom Wike over who controls the political structure of the state.
