Eko Hotels adopts comprehensive food safety system

Eko Hotels and Suites reaffirms its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene by implementing a robust training programme for its food handlers.

The hotel ensures that all relevant staff members who come into contact with food or food equipment undergo rigorous training and certification by globally recognised trainers, including Rentokil Boecker.

Recognising the critical role food handlers play in ensuring guests’ well-being, Eko Hotels emphasizes their training and certification.

Therefore, it is mandatory for all food handlers, as well as other staff members involved in activities related to food, such as maintenance staff responsible for repairing kitchen equipment, food Receiving officers, Stewards, Waiters, Food Purchasing officers, and more, to undergo the Food Safety System and Hazard Analysis, Critical Control Points (HACCP) training and examination.

Additionally, they are required to attend refresher courses annually or as and when due to ensure their knowledge remains up to date with the latest industry requirements.

“We consider the safety and well-being of our guests as our utmost priority, and proper food handling practices are central to that commitment,” Chioma Mgbarine, head of Safety at Eko Hotels, said.

According to her, “By investing in comprehensive training for our food handlers, we ensure they possess the necessary expertise to maintain a safe and hygienic food environment. This training ensures compliance with global food safety standards and enhances the overall dining experience for our valued guests.”

The training programme, delivered in collaboration with Rentokil Boecker, renowned for its expertise in food safety and hygiene, equipped Eko Hotels’ food handlers with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent foodborne illnesses, identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.

“Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and examinations, the trainers ensure that participants understand the importance of personal hygiene, proper food storage, safe food handling techniques, and a clean working environment,” Mgbarine said

Implementing the comprehensive food safety training programme at Eko Hotels highlights the hotel’s ongoing efforts to adhere to strict food safety regulations and guidelines.

“By prioritising the training and certification of all staff members involved in food-related tasks, we guarantee the delivery of safe and hygienic dining experiences to our esteemed guests,” she said.
