Adamawa deworms, immunizes children, women against mortality, deformity

The Adamawa State Government is set to conduct the phase two of Statewide School Deworming campaign and distribution of free delivery kits to pregnant mothers in the State.

This was made known by Kaletapwa Farauta, Professor and Deputy Governor at the Outbreak Response (OBR2) Review Meeting for March 2024, organized by Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA).

Farauta stated that the campaign was part of activities lined up for Polio Immunization targeted at 1.3 million children, adding that the provision of free drugs by State Government had reduced the cost of ante natal care and delivery services at Primary Healthcare facilities as well as re-capitalizing drug revolving fund scheme to make it sustainable and more efficient.

She however lauded continuous contributions of stakeholders and partners, which according to her, had contributed to the successes recorded in Immunization and other health-elated issues.

She also commended the traditional rulers, community mobilizers and development partners in the health sector for 101% success recorded in the Polio Routing Immunization in the State

Also speaking, Suleiman Bashir, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADPHCDA) said that the Agency had resolved 61 cases of Non-Compliance of Polio Vaccination in the last one month in the State.

He noted that the successes recorded were made possible through the community mobilizers, and vaccination team, leading to 101% success at the State level and 94% success, in 20 Local Council Areas in terms of Immunization coverage.
