Hygeia, as a healthcare group, has been active in Nigeria for over two decades and is the largest healthcare provider in Nigeria provides stress-free access to care through four distinct organisations – Lagoon Hospitals, Hygeia HMO, Hygeia Community Health Care, and Hygeia Foundation.
Following their recent rebranding, they have decided to take it a step further by putting together a conference intended to help better the lives of the citizenry.
Hygeia is set to hold the maiden edition of its health conference themed ‘Improving Healthcare Service Quality in Nigeria: Be a part of the solution!’ on September 7, by 9am prompt at Four Points by Sheraton, VI Lagos.
The conference is designed to bring together all stakeholders with the responsibility to deliver quality healthcare in Nigeria, as patient will be profiled rightly as the primary client. The issues of healthcare quality, accessibility and affordability for every Nigerian will be the focal point.
Hospitals are the primary service providers, but they have two major challenges; inadequate funding and capacity gaps.
The conference will focus on helping hospitals deliver better care by strengthening capacity and giving an insight into funding solutions.
Another major discussion area will be how to move Nigeria closer to UHC (universal health coverage); public health issues such as emergency services, Hepatitis B and micro-health insurance will be addressed.
According to Obinnia Abajue, CEO of Hygeia, “The conference is another platform for the necessary PPP initiatives that support the government’s goals and efforts to provide quality healthcare coverage to the low income class at a reasonable cost. This is achieved by showcasing important private sector investments and initiatives, which the government can partner and support to achieve UHC success.”
Minister of health, Isaac Adewole, will deliver keynote address, and the special address will be given by the Lagos State commissioner of health, Olajide Idris.
The conference topics include: ‘Global insights in healthcare service delivery: a model to benefit all stakeholders,’ which will be taken by director, Health Industry Services, PWC, Gbenga Olatunji. Other topic, ‘Expectations of Quality Patient – centred Care’ will be taken by head, Shell Health, Ajike Oladoyin.
Founder and CMD, Outreach Medical Services, Efunbo Dosekun, will speak on ‘delivering quality healthcare service in Nigeria: Focus on the Patient Experience.”
A representative from Interswitch will speak on ‘Seamless Access to Care.’
Senior Life and Heath Client Relationship manager, Africa Swiss Re, Bode Olajumoke, will be speaking on ‘Providing Healthcare Insurance for Lower Income Groups: A Global Perspective.’
The topic ‘Making healthcare accessible to everyone: the challenges & the solutions’ will be presented by the representative from Public Reforms, Public-Private Dialogue, African Economic Policy, TayoAduloju.
There will also be a discuss on financing options for healthcare providers in Nigeria, to be handled by OlumideOkunola, senior health specialist, IFC
There will be panel discussions by panellists who are very distinguished and knowledgeable on the subject of healthcare delivery both in Nigeria and globally.
