Abia Poly invents long lasting energy-saving bulbs with 15yrs lifespan

Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, has invented unbreakable long lasting energy bulbs with 15 years lifespan, says Eboh Ezionye, a professor and acting rector of the institution.

Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, has invented unbreakable long lasting energy bulbs with 15 years lifespan, says Eboh Ezionye, a professor and acting rector of the institution.
Addressing guests and fresh students at the 25th matriculation ceremony of the institution, Ezionye explained that the Polytechnic was partnering the Abia State government to give fillip to the marketability of the invention and other inventions.
He appealed to investors and other entrepreneurs to look towards the institution for good profitable investments.
The Polytechnic is currently running certificate programmes for shoe manufacturers and leather designers in Aba, he said, stressing that the institution wants to leverage on Government’s efforts in making Abia truly a Japan of Africa.
He explained also that the institution wants to ensure that entrepreneurs in Aba are equipped with the necessary intellectual business skills to drive the process, an initiative that he stated is in line with the dreams of the founding fathers of the Polytechnic.
As part of management’s conscious and deliberate efforts to attract local and international partnerships and collaborations, the Abia Poly Acting Rector, explained that the institution has entered into partnership with the ICT University, Louisiana, United States of America (USA).
He stated that through the partnership that the ICT University has equipped the Polytechnic with ICT related materials worth thousands of Dollars.
“Further, we have connected the whole campus and today, we have a 24 hour internet service on campus. The National Communication Commission (NCC) has also provided hundreds of computer laptops and tablets to the institution.”
Ezionye admonished the newly admitted students of the institution to cherish the wonderful privilege of becoming members of the Polytechnic community, stressing that the privilege goes with great responsibility.
“This responsibility implies that your actions and inactions, has implications for your tomorrow.
“You need to work hard to excel in your academics and secure your tomorrow. Thought you may be faced with many challenges, but I assure you that with hard work and determination, you will be sufficiently equipped intellectually, morally and otherwise to be able to contend violently with these challenges.”
He therefore charged them to give their best to the opportunity, promising that the management would provide the enabling and conducive environment for the realisation of their academic dreams.
This, according to him, could be attested to the full-blown uninterrupted academic activities going on and the upgrading of facilities in the institution.
In his words, “We have commenced renovation work on the FM and DC blocks to ensure that we have adequate and conducive classrooms for learning. Work is ongoing at the science block, through the instrumentality of TETFUND.
“At our permanent site in Osisioma, massive construction work is ongoing and by our time table, academic activities would commence there by the 2019/2020 session.

“We are expecting Nigerian Board of Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation team between May and June this year, and arrangements are in top gear to ensure that all our programmes are accredited at both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels”.
