The International Association of Lions Clubs District 404B2 Nigeria has restated its commitment to invest in training and human development for members. Speaking during the District Governor’s Advisory Committee Meeting, John Oriazowan, Zone 6A, Chairperson, District 404B2 Nigeria said part of his duties is to support leadership development in the Zone.
“This is our 3rd District advisory committee meeting we have held now. We had the first one in September 2020, where the club leaders and officers were trained and empowered with emphasis on the association’s global service causes such as the Diabetes awareness, childhood Cancer, environmental awareness, vision and hunger relief programs.
“The second district advisory committee meeting which was held sometimes in December 2020 focused on the needs to get more members and a strategy to retain members because we also believe that its every body’s role to believe in what the association stands for and besides the more we are, the more we can impact more lives,” Oriazowan said.

Oriazowan explained that meetings like the Advisory Committee Meeting help supervise the progress of the district, multiple district and Lions Clubs International projects.
He further explained the meeting will also help the clubs and leaders of the clubs to meet and promote the club’s excellence process for meeting up with effective service delivery of the Lions clubs international.
Also, such training and meeting will further add value to the nation-building through various skills as acquired from training for better enhancement
Also speaking at the committee meeting, Taiwo Adewunmi, past district Governor, 404B2 Nigeria, said Lions Club invests a lot in training because training is key to growth of a person and the nation at large.
“We have the emerging Lions Leadership Institute. As a new Lion, you take orientation classes, we tell them about the history of Lions Club, what we do, our services, the kind of community impact we make, the ones we have done in the past and our current goals.
“As a president or a club officer, we do training for you as well. District governors go on District Governor’s elect seminar. There is a lot of training for members. Some are online and others that are face-to-face training.
“The training we have had today is to challenge our members to understand that they are not just in the association because they want to be Lions but because they have a role to play in impacting the immediate and the larger society. We are in a new normal now and some of us were impacted negatively like members who are travel agents, we try to support and encourage these members the little ways we can,” Adewunmi added.
