Formalising Nigeria’s creative industry seen optimising potential

SO&U, one of Nigeria’s most influential creative agencies has revealed that it would be embarking on a corporate restructuring to accelerate its strategic transformation for the future. These changes will enhance the company’s strategy, capabilities and culture to drive growth, meet customer needs and provide superior solutions in a rapidly evolving marketing communications industry.

As the company marks its 33rd anniversary, it is taking stock and embarking on the next steps towards its strategic journey for the future. This was the focus of discourse at its recently held corporate retreat aimed at re-defining, reinventing and refocusing the organization. The retreat had as its theme “Shaping SO&U for a Renewed Beginning”. Speakers at the Retreat, according to a statement included Fola Adeola, Co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, a former Managing Director of Access Bank Plc.

The restructuring, according to the statement which will have an impact on all aspects of the company’s operations will fundamentally reposition it towards new business and growth areas. Already, new executive appointments have been made to drive a renewed Brand Management structure that will ensure better engagement experiences for clients and focus the Agency towards creating greater mutual value for the Agency and its clients.

According to the Group Managing Director of SO&U, Udeme Ufot, the future is for thinkers and demonstrable value creators with strong relationship skills. It is about 360-degree brand management driving solutions that not only work, but have capacity to transform brands and situations.

“To win and retain the confidence of our clients we must demonstrate a deeper understanding of our clients’ businesses, connect better with their consumers, and provide solutions that they can trust” he said

Udeme further stresses that, “our current restructuring is an ongoing process that will cut across all aspects of our operations aimed at ensuring that the agency is battle ready for the next leg of its success story. The last 33 years have been both challenging and rewarding. But we believe a bright future awaits, if we do the right things, and do them right. We are challenging and questioning everything we do to ensure we will be relevant to the future needs of our clients, and will infact move ahead to await them in that future”.
