The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite nationwide strike.
According to the union, the strike is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and failure of the federal government to honour the agreement it entered with the union in 2017.

Led by its National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU declared the strike on Sunday Night at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State
All academic staff of universities were directed to withdraw their services immediately.
