Kylian Mbappe has escalated his dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) by taking legal action to recover an alleged €55 million in unpaid wages.
The French superstar, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, claims he is owed the final payment of a significant signing bonus, three months’ salary, and an additional ‘ethics bonus’.
The fallout from Mbappe’s departure has continued to sour relations between the player and the Ligue 1 champions. The dispute has now been referred to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) legal committee, with Mbappe’s representatives also indicating their willingness to pursue the matter through an employment tribunal if necessary.
The stakes are high for PSG, with the potential for serious consequences. If Mbappe’s claims are upheld, the club could face a transfer ban imposed by the LFP. Furthermore, Mbappe’s decision to involve UEFA could result in even more severe sanctions, including expulsion from the Champions League.
PSG, meanwhile, maintains that its financial dealings with Mbappe were justified and insists that negotiations are ongoing to resolve the matter.
