Hearn predicts Fury’s return to boxing amid Joshua clash speculation

Following Tyson Fury’s recent retirement announcement, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes the ‘Gypsy King’ will make a return to the boxing ring.

Fury, who suffered consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, recently announced his retirement from boxing. This news came just days after Anthony Joshua expressed his desire to face Fury in a highly anticipated clash in 2025. His promoter, Frank Warren, told talkSPORT on Monday that Fury’s career might be over, stating, “He’s had an incredible journey, but this could be the end.”

While Fury’s retirement appears to have put those plans on hold, Hearn remains optimistic that the heavyweight champion will eventually return to the sport.

“The two biggest fights in British boxing are Benn vs. Eubank Jr. and AJ vs. Fury. One is over the line, one is not in play at the moment. It takes two to tango, and AJ is alone on the dance floor. So, whatever Tyson decides to do, if it is the end for him, we wish him all the best. He’s had a great career. But I think he will be back, in my opinion.”

Hearn also outlined potential opponents for Joshua, including Martin Bakole, Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder, and the winners of the upcoming Dubois vs. Parker and Zhang vs. Kabayel fights.

While a Fury fight remains the most enticing prospect, Hearn emphasised that Joshua will continue to pursue his boxing career regardless of Fury’s decision.

“AJ wants to fight and he’s still in love with the sport,” Hearn stated.

As Fury contemplates his next move, British boxing fans will wait to see if “The Gypsy King” makes a U-turn, keeping alive the dream of a blockbuster showdown with Joshua.
