F1: Hamilton begins new chapter with Ferrari

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton officially began his journey as a Ferrari driver on Monday, expressing his excitement about joining the iconic team.

The 40-year-old shocked the F1 world last February by announcing his departure from Mercedes after 12 triumphant years to race for the Scuderia.

“Today we start a new chapter in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together,” Hamilton said in a press release during his first appearance at Maranello, Ferrari’s historic headquarters.

Sporting a polished look in a long overcoat, dark suit, and tie, Hamilton posed for photos in front of the former home of Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari. He later toured the Fiorano circuit, meeting team principal Frederic Vasseur and managing director Benedetto Vigna.

Hamilton also spent time with key members of his new team, including his track engineer, Riccardo Adami.

“There are some days you know you’ll remember forever, and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days,” Hamilton remarked.

“I’ve been fortunate to achieve things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always dreamed of racing in red. I’m dedicated to bringing everything I have to deliver for the team, the wider organisation, and the fans.”

Hamilton will partner Charles Leclerc as the duo aims to secure Ferrari’s first drivers’ championship since Kimi Räikkönen’s triumph in 2007.
