TRU, a fully Nigerian ride-hailing service provider set to launch into the Nigerian transport sector on 4 May, offering N1000 access charge for drivers seen at disrupting the current market structure with competitors charging between 25 and 30 percent commissions and fees, about a third of all passenger daily fares.
TRU, which core value is to provide seamless transportation for its riders while ensuring the drivers can make more money than usual, promises an unforgettable experience for the riders and a better experience for the drivers.
“But with TRU, we want to make sure that our drivers get the best of the business. Rather than the standard 20 to 25per cent, we aim for the riders to keep all they make,” said Tubosun Abioye, co-founder and CEO of TRU, stating that drivers in other cab-hailing organisations are still left shorthanded.

According to Abioye, the government needs to constantly create a conducive environment for startups to strive in an emerging market like Nigeria. He posits that the TRU brand emerges to address the age-long complaint from the drivers and riders of other cab-hailing services like Uber, Bolt, Taxify among others.
Speaking on other measures put in place by the brand, Abioye said every driver will undergo compulsory training, including driving, customer care and emotional intelligence. He disclosed that the TRU proprietary AI algorithm will continuously help the brand improve on drivers training requirement and overall customer experience.
“Our drivers will always be a top priority in our operation, and we’ve taken steps to ensure that the appropriate security precautions are in place to protect every TRU rider. For both our riders and drivers, comfort and safety will always be a prime concern in our business,” Abioye stated.
Abioye states further that the TRU brand is developed in Africa and built for the world, hence the TRU Prestige, one of the brand’s offerings will provide caring and affordable platform for ride-hailing services that provides a different kind of urban transportation.
