Oba of Benin suspends Enogie over alleged misconduct, dereliction of duty

The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II has suspended Osagumwenro Eki Eresoyen, the Enogie of Uhogua village over alleged misconduct and dereliction of duty.

Uhogua village is located in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The monarch also passed a vote of no confidence in the Enogie.

In his stead, the traditional ruler directed Omonuwa Moses, the second mostly elderly man in the community, to take over the administration of the village pending the appointment of Odionwere (village head).

He ordered that the community be administered with the support of other elders which include the Ohen-Ovia (Priest), Festus Omorefe, Isaac Osayande, Samuel Imaruagheru as well as John Ohiegbomwan, the Okaighele of the village.

The Oba also urged the village elders to make peace and be law-abiding in discharging their duties for overall development of the area in line with Benin Customs and tradition.
