Military donates boreholes to 5 Nasarawa communities

As part of its cooperate social responsibility to the people, the Nigeria Military has donated boreholes to five communities in Nasarawa State in order to ameliorate the plights of the people in accessing good drinking water.

The projects which were carried out by the Department of Civil-Military Cooperation under the office of the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), was to address the problem of water scarcity in the benefiting communities.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin, announced the donation at the inauguration of the projects in Kadarko community in Keana Local Government Area of the state.

Olonisakin who was represented by Obed Ngalabak, said, the gesture by the military was in addition to providing security of lives and property.

The benefiting communities he listed included, Agyaragu and Gidinye communities in Obi Local Government, Agudu in Lafia Local Government and Kadarko in Keana Local Government Area.

The CDS pledged to the extent the gesture to other communities in the state to alleviate the living standard of the people in rural communities.

“This is not the first time we are supporting communities, as we have built dispensaries, worship centres, and renovated schools across the country, especially in communities we are hosted to”.

He urged the benefiting communities to guard, protect and take care of the facilities so as to attract them more social amenities to their areas.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule who commended the military for the gesture, called on the benefiting communities to take care of the projects for their use.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe, noted that the military had done exceedingly well for the people of Nasarawa state, especially in the area of security.

He explained that the military had succeeded in chasing out armed bandits and other criminal elements from the state, and the people now sleep with two eyes closed without fear of attacks or molestation.

“Before now, this part of the country was the hotspot in terms of insecurity but now we can sleep with our two eyes closed.

“The military has been so friendly to us in all aspects. In fact, what we have now is digitalised military”, Sule stated.

In a remark, the Chairman of Obi Local Government, Mohammed Yimoga, applauded the military for securing the area and the donation of boreholes, which would have a direct bearing on the lives of the people.
