What could be described as an unprovoked attack by hoodlums in today’s morning has led to the killing of two policemen and a civilian at Akabor in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has vexed Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command to deploy the command’s Special Tactical Squad and equipped them with the operational resources and intelligence to go all out in synergy with other security agencies to clamp down on the hoodlums responsible for the unwarranted attack.
Consequently, the police are conducting a very serious stop-and-search operation along the area, to fish out those who did the evil act.

But those who spoke on condition of anonymity to our correspondent said that “the hoodlums who killed the two policemen and the civilian might not be around the vicinity of Akabor, the police will only succeed in harassing passers-by and arresting innocent people. Let the police extend its search to other areas to enable them do a good job”.
Now, the Commissioner of Police is suspecting the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN).
In the wake of the tragic incident, Aboki Danjuma, CP alongside the DC Operations led the police operatives to the scene of the crime for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident, and intense operation is ongoing in the area.
To this, the Commissioner of Police has set up a high-powered investigation team and tasked them to carry out a comprehensive investigation to unravel the perpetrators of the attack, even though, he has named IPOB and Eastern Security Network members.
But the lifeless bodies of the affected officers and a civilian have been recovered and deposited in an unnamed mortuary for preservation.
The CP said that the ugly incident served as a stark and painful reminder of the daily risk and sacrifices police officers face in their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of the good people of Imo State.

While commiserating with the affected families on the death of their loved ones, “the Commissioner of Police assured them that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the culprits are brought to book”.
The command has called on all and sundry “who may have any useful information that will assist in the ongoing investigation to bring the culprit to book to kindly report at the nearest police station or via the command’s emergency lines 08034773600 or 08098880197”.
