Governors and chief executives read a lot of files and thus acquire deep insight and intelligence into many things and many lives. That is why they become very powerful; and Sim Fubara, governor of Rivers State since May 29, 2023, is no exception.
Governors and those CEOs seek opportunities to ventilate such intelligence in the most harmless way. That is why journalists and policy analysts tend to read their lips to interpret the minds of the CEOs.

Last weekend, Gov Fubara eased his mind of such burdens of insight especially over joblessness of youths. He revealed why jobs dried up in PH and urged youths to get skills to match current market demands.
Fubara made the remark when he commended one young person, Decency Tompson, a Rivers youth who walked on foot from Nasarawa State to Port Harcourt between April 8 and 25 this year, 2024. The ‘star trek’ was to create awareness on the level of unemployment that youths face after graduation from the university and the need to change the narrative.
Fubara regretted that poor planning, haphazard implementation of some policies, and the near lack of interest in pursuing sustainable economic growth in all facets of the State by leaders had dampened the business environment in the State.
The governor spoke through the head of service George Nwaeke who said: “There is good news for us now. The governor that we have now, serving us, is the governor that is thinking of how to fix the situation.
He said the governor is working round the clock to change the narrative and boost productivity. He said as the base of the oil industry, return of businesses would create jobs. He urged the youths to key into the new agenda that guarantees job creation.
He rejected the practice of youths carrying coffins to gates of companies to make case for employment, sayings they should rather make case for themselves in more responsible ways.

He emphasised that Rivers has now become a very peaceful state, stressing that efforts were in top gear towards rebuilding the environment and making it more attractive for investors.
He noted, “Decent jobs do not start paying fat from the first day. It is about the right education and the right training.” He urged them to go build the right skills. Put yourselves together, let trainers also develop structured courses that will provide skills required in companies to achieve optimum capacity utilisation.”
He mentioned the Ministries of Youth Development and the one for Chieftaincy/Community Affairs where trainings are going on in earnest.
