Ex-Abia commissioner decries number of guber candidates from Abia North

Richard Harrison, a former commissioner for Finance in Abia State.

Richard Harrison, a former commissioner for Finance in Abia State, has raised the alarm over the proliferation of gubernatorial candidates from the Abia North district.

From the records available, Abia North Senatorial District which argued that the guber seat should be zoned to her, having successfully rotated the three senatorial districts, is presently parading about 10 governorship candidates from various political parties.

Reacting to the perceived unhealthy development, Harrison lamented, “Abia North politicians are shooting themselves and will die from friendly fire unless there is a consolidation through alliances”.

He advised Abia North electorates to examine critically the policy documents, visions, missions and promises of the three outstanding candidates of various political parties from Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Arochukwu and choose the best during the gubernatorial election.

“We are pretending that PDP and APC are dead in Abia North because our brothers from Central and South threw up candidates, forgetting that we did the same thing to them in 2014”, he said.

Harrison called on Abia North Elders to pick one of the three candidates suggested and vote massively irrespective of party affiliation.
