Death of Zard Holding owner, significant loss to Nigeria – Senator Alli

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC- Oyo South) has described the passing of Raymond Zard, renowned industrialist and philanthropist, as a significant loss to Ibadanland and to the entire nation.

This is contained in a statement signed by Akeem Abas, his Special Adviser on Media and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

The 86-year-old owner of Zard Holdings, a conglomerate with several companies, was reported to have died on Sunday in Holland.

Alli said that the late Zard, until his death, demonstrated unparalleled leadership and vision.

“His conglomerate, comprising several companies in Nigeria, was a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic development,” he said.

The lawmaker and Maye Balogun of Ibadanland said that Zard’s contributions left an indelible mark on the industrial landscape of Nigeria.

He said that beyond the late Zard’s business acumen, he was a revered traditional Chief, holding the prestigious title of Babalaje of Ibadanland.

Alli said that Zard’s dedication to cultural and social upliftment of the community was evident in his actions and philanthropy.

He described him as a beacon of progress and an embodiment of selfless service to humanity.

“As we mourn his loss, we must also celebrate his life and legacy. Chief Zard’s numerous contributions to both the business world and our society at large will continue to inspire future generations.

“His memory will remain etched in our hearts as a symbol of excellence and benevolence,” he said.

Alli expressed deepest sympathies to the Zard family; friends and associates, praying Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.
