The Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Canada received an allocation of 21,500 nominations in 2024, marking an increase of 5,000 nominations compared to the previous year’s 16,500.
Following a meeting last November where immigration ministers from across Canada convened with Marc Miller Federal Minister to discuss immigration’s impact on their respective regions, Ontario secured a higher allocation for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
This resulted in an increase in nominations for 2024, up from 16,500 in the previous year.
CIC News reports that every province and territory, except Quebec and Nunavut, receives an annual allocation of nominations for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

However, according to CIC News, some provinces do not publicly disclose their allocations. The increase in allocations for this year is not surprising.
During a meeting last November, Federal Minister Marc Miller with the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration (FMRI), requests were made for increased autonomy in selecting immigrants and additional spots for their respective programs.
As a result, Canada is now set to welcome 110,000 new permanent residents through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in 2024, surpassing the number admitted through the federal Express Entry system.

At a similar meeting in March 2023, Federal Minister Marc Miller and the FMRI approved a multi-year plan for PNP allocations. This initiative enables provinces to plan local infrastructure strategically to accommodate existing residents and newcomers.
Notably, Ontario has not yet announced any provisional allocations for the next two years.
Provincial immigration results from March 29 to April 5
British Columbia
On April 3, British Columbia conducted four draws of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), inviting 83 candidates.
The largest draw, which invited 30 candidates from five categories. For Skilled Workers, Skilled Workers (EEBC option), and International Graduates, a minimum score of 130 was required, as reported by CIC News.
Alberta
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has recently extended invitations to 48 candidates from the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway who possess Alberta job offers. Aligned with Express Entry, this pathway necessitates candidates to hold a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
In the most recent draw, candidates were required to have a CRS score of 300 or higher to qualify. This marks the eighth draw for this category in the current year.
Prince Edward Island
On April 4, Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 66 invitations to candidates under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), targeting Labour and Express Entry candidates employed in the healthcare, manufacturing, and early childhood education sectors.
This draw represents the first of the month for PEI PNP and the sixth overall this year, as reported by CIC News.
