Abia Revenue Service holds capacity-building training for concessionaires

Cross River holds energy summit to boost revenue, create jobs

The Abia State Internal Revenue Service has commenced aggressive training and capacity building of the State Concessionaires and their agents so as to empower them to discharge their duties diligently.

Udochukwu Ogbonna, a professor, and the executive chairman, Abia State Internal Revenue Service, made this known while declaring the capacity building training open in Umuahia, recently.

The ABIRS Chairman, who was represented by Chijioke Okoronta director Operations, emphasized that a well trained staff was an invaluable asset to any organisation.

He reminded them that they were solely appointed by the State to drive revenue collection for the state.

Ogbonna urged them to ensure that they fill the service level agreement form which would equip and empower them more on things expected of them.
He advised them not to take power into their hands but report any issue to the Service for appropriate action.

The Abia Revenue boss made it clear that the administrations of Governor Alex Otti does not encourage cash collections and urged them to follow the rules to avoid sanctions. He also advised them to pay attention to the training in order to gain an understanding of the processes so as to be efficient in what were required of them.

In his speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Chimereze Isaac Okeigbo, drilled the Concessionaires and their Agents on the importance of minding the business assigned to them and not jumping from one duty post to the other. He said that the new government was no longer “as usual” government and that they were expected to discharge their duties diligently and avoid harassing hawkers and petty traders around the state.

Okeigbo said that the new digital formula was designed in such a way that it would guide them to be more focused on their assignments and not fall into trouble.

In their separate contributions, Ambrose Jonah, Chukwuma Edward, and Sam Achinivu assured of their commitment to deliver in the new assignment.
