Heavy security as election tribunals kick off

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, has adjourned till 2pm for a ruling on whether or not the President of the Appeal Court and chairman of the tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachua to recuse herself.

The Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the February 23 presidential and national assembly elections, Atiku Abubakar are objecting to Justice Bulkachua’s chairmanship of the panel on the ground that she is married to a senator and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the third respondent in the petition.
