FUNAAB pioneers e-health record ‎system to deepen healthcare delivery

 
As part of measures to simplify and quicken access to sound healthcare delivery, particularly at primary healthcare level, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has designed electronic health record system with an intention to overhaul health record keeping in every level of healthcare delivery in the country.
FUNAAB electronic health record system which was designed by the University Health Centre, according to Mami Mohammed, Registrar, Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN), was designed to facilitate the treatment of patients within a very short period of time and, in the process, make data generation easy.
Speaking at the handing over of 20 sets of desktop computers, server and software donated by Asia-African Foreign Investment Development Agency in conjunction with Brightsword Technology Limited, Singapore, the Registrar advised the University Management to ensure that the training to be given to care-givers was comprehensive and detailed in order to ensure efficient and effective health service delivery.
‎While commending the university for pioneering the Electronic Health Records System (EHRS) among Nigerian universities, Mohammed declared that FUNAAB Health Centre was the first to start the idea as the university remains a partner in progress for HRORBN). He pledged the Board’s support for the Electronic Health Record System until it becomes a global phenomenon.
The consultant to the project, Raphael Iluyomade, commended staff from the University Health Centre that participated in the training for their unity of purpose, team work and positive collaboration, which had led to the success of the two-week training programme, just as he encouraged medical personnel across the country to develop soft-skills so as to improve their inter-personal knowledge towards restoring the confidence of the citizens in public health institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor, Olusola Oyewole, alongside the DVC (Academic), Oluyemisi Eromosele, and the DVC (Development), Ololade Enikuomehin, appreciated the efforts and support of the project consultant as well as the International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD) of the university.
While thanking the donors at the event which marked the end of training on Electronic Health Record System for some pioneer students and presentation of certificates, the Vice-Chancellor assured Nigerians and‎ HRORBN that the University would ensure optimal use of the facilities.
