Thermocool, a subsidiary of PZ Cussons with 40 years of heritage as Nigeria’s foremost brand, has invested about $30 million in the last four years in expanding its distribution network, new outlets and new manufacturing lines.

This is part of Thermocool’s efforts to maintain the leading position in most of the market categories where it operates and command premium position in the industry.

Panos Katsis, the company’s CEO, in an interview with BusinessDay, says the challenge for the company is not only to keep and defend the leading position, but to continue to grow, adding that competition is welcomed because with competition one becomes better and more innovative and not complacent.

According to Katsis, “today, we are the leaders in fridges, generators, air-conditioners, and also the cookers, and the factor that has kept us strong, growing and optimistic is our relentless pursuit for quality, innovation, customer service and customer satisfaction.”

Meanwhile, Thermocool has rewarded winners of the Elite Model Look Nigeria, one of the prestigious international modelling contests, each with an anti-rust body zinc coated steel Thermocool refrigerator.

This reward was part of the ways to celebrate Thermocool’s 40 years of existence in the Nigerian market and add values to the lives of youths in Nigeria, thereby helping them realise their dreams.

Speaking during the prize-giving event, Singh Vikramjeet, managing director, Thermocool, says the company has made a promise to consumers to always stand by them and this occasion is in fulfilment of that promise.

According to Vikramjeet, “we always want to promote the development of the country. This event will help bring out the best talents in the fashion industry and enhance development in the country, which is why Thermocool decided to support this,” as is also an opportunity for Thermocool to communicate new innovations it is bringing into the market.

Victor Ndigwe, 18 years old student of the University of Benin, and Nicolas Mayowa, 16 years old student of Crawford University, winners of the Elite Model Look, Nigeria, express their gratitude to Thermocool for the rewards.

The winners recognise Thermocool as part of the companies that played a major role in ensuring they become forces to be reckoned with in the fashion industry, and has proven to be a company that keeps to its words.
