Chairman of Somolu Local Government Omogbolahan Bagostowe has commended the efforts of the ministry of energy and mineral resources, and the partner on the Eko Gas Initiative, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for the initiative taken in the distribution of cylinders and sensitisation of residents of Somolu Local Government.

The initiative was also geared towards raising awareness on the use of Liquified Petroleum Gas and the immense benefits to the environment and health of users as opposed to using traditional fuels.

Speaking on the visit of the organisers to the local government area at the secretariat, the chairman said the sensitisation programme will enable majority of the residents of the local government area come to terms with the immense benefits in the usage of gas, thereby preventing the unnecessary hazards faced by a large population in the local government communities as in inhaling of carbon-monoxide when other traditional cooking fuels were used.

Afterwards, majority of people in attendance at the programme, which cut across sex, religion, business/political groups and others were presented with gas cylinders. They were also enlightened on the usage of gas to avoid accidental usage in their different homes.

He however implored the citizens and residents that benefitted in the cylinder distribution exercise to make good use of it.
