Production manager, Fan Milk Nigeria plc, Linus Oyena, has identified inadequate power supply as the major problem facing most manufacturing companies in the country. Shortage of power affects the level of production, sales and supply which led to folding up of many companies in Nigeria, Oyena said.
According to him, when power goes off, you waste materials, manpower, time and so many things are wasted, at the end of the day, you discover that you are not making anything, as “with constant power, we will be able to satisfy the masses and the more we do that the more we get something into our own pockets.”
Speaking when members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State council, who were at the headquarters of the company in Eleyele on a facility tour, he advised government to assist manufacturers in their businesses, saying manufacturers and the government had to work together to reduce unemployment in the country.
The Fan Milk production manager, while explaining some processes of making the company’s products to the NAWOJ members, said the government needed to help the manufacturers by making sure that power was constant “so that we can be able to do more, and the more we expand the more we create jobs and the economy continue to grow, that will reduce crisis in the country. The more we employ there will be peace, stability because all these lawlessness will reduce.”
Constant power would help the country to grow economically and reduce social vices to the bearest minimum, he said.
The company’s quality assurance manager, Ifeoma Eribo, while assuring the public of the readiness of the company to continue in its bid in producing standard and quality products ideal for consumption, said the company had continue to be an environmental friendly one at all times.
Arun Preeza, head, technical service, said the company was taking all necessary step to ensure that they produce quality products in meeting the current contemporary challenges and be environmental friendly, saying parts of it was the changing from the use of diesel engine generators to gas in order to prevent noise pollution and enhance productivity.
In her response, the chairperson of the union, Adekitan Adeagbo, said the union decided to embark on the tour in order to identify with them and also to have first-hand information about the company, and thanked the management for devoting their time in taking members of the union on the tour.
