Fayose faults Buhari’s London interview picture

Fayose blames politicians, stakeholders for Nigeria’s problems

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, was in the United Kingdom for purposes other than a political tour. Specifically, he revealed that Buhari’s interview with the chief executive officer, of All Eyes on Africa TV show, Kemi Fadojutimi, during his working visit to the UK was taken at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. He made the revelations while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Monday, stressing that the former head of state will not win the March 28 presidential poll.

Although the Ekiti State governor did not name the room number of the hotel where he alleged that the interview took place, he also did not state the year it was taken. He, however, took newsmen on a tour of the suite where he insisted the photograph was taken.

It was observed that the settings in the room bear similitude of the settings in the photograph. His words, “I am not here to deceive Nigerians. They couldn’t find an answer to my allegation. The only thing they could send across is to send this picture in defence of the fact I said General Buhari is in the hospital. In my case, I brought you here to see for yourself. “So, for any opposition party in Nigeria, they will stand to tell you why the head should be on the shoulder, why the shoulder should be on the head because they are politicians. But the fact speaks for itself”.

While saying that governing Nigeria needs “strength and energy”, he stated that the retired general is too “old and frail” to govern the country. He canvassed for the deployment of soldiers during elections, saying this would checkmate violence. The governor also denied allegations that he is trailing Buhari in London, adding, “At General Buhari’s age, I don’t need to run after him”.
