Meta to allow users create personalised AI chatbots

Cybercrime attempts on WhatsApp, Instagram grew in Q2 — Report

Meta Platforms Inc. the parent company of popular social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp has announced that it would allow its users to create personalised artificial intelligence chatbots.

Chatbot is a computer program designed to simulate conversation with human users, especially over the internet.

The company in a blog post stated that the new feature called AI Studio lets creators with professional accounts make a custom AI chatbot that is “an extension of themselves” and can answer common questions from fans or followers. Also, people can tell their bot what types of questions to answer, or which topics to avoid.

Meta’s latest advancement has been developed through its recently launched Llama 3.1, one of the largest open-source AI models available in the world.

Llama 3.1 is available in multiple countries and languages and contains a new feature in which it can create images based on someone’s specific likeness.

Meta also said Llama 3.1’s performance metrics compete with those of paid models from rivals like OpenAI.

“I believe the Llama 3.1 release will be an inflexion point in the industry where most developers begin to primarily use open source, and I expect that approach to only grow from here,” Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg said upon release of the model.
