U17 Women’s World Cup: Flamingos coach Olowookere invites 35 players to camp

Head coach of Nigeria’s U17 girls team, the Flamingos, Bankole Olowookere, has called up 35 players to camp as the team begins the first phase of final preparations for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. The tournament will take place in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3.

The Flamingos were in exceptional form during the qualifying series, netting 25 goals in six matches. They thrashed the Central African Republic 6-0 in both legs, eliminated Burkina Faso 7-1 on aggregate in the third round, and defeated Liberia 6-1 on aggregate in the final round to secure their spot in the tournament.

Leading the list of invited players is Harmony Chidi, who scored an astonishing 13 goals during the qualifiers. She is joined by her strike partner Peace Effiong, team captain Taiwo Afolabi, goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, and defender Prisca Nwachukwu.
