According to multiple reports including TEAMtalk, Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly opened talks to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen ahead of next summer, aiming to beat Manchester United in the race for the Napoli forward.
PSG is said to have initiated discussions with Napoli, leveraging their strong relationship with the Serie A club, which could give them an edge in negotiations. However, Osimhen appears likely to remain on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray until the end of the season, where he has already scored 11 league goals.
The Nigerian striker has had a strained relationship with Napoli since last summer, following a failed transfer to a major club, which led him to join Galatasaray on loan.
Osimhen’s contract reportedly includes a €75 million release clause, making him an attractive option for clubs seeking a proven striker. Arsenal is among the clubs monitoring his situation, while PSG and Chelsea unsuccessfully pursued him during the last transfer window.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also reportedly exploring a move for Osimhen during the current window. Napoli is believed to have shown interest in United’s Alejandro Garnacho and had considered including Osimhen in a potential deal for the Argentine forward.
PSG recently completed a deal with Napoli for winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, further solidifying their positive relationship. This could be instrumental in securing a swift agreement for Osimhen, should both clubs align on terms.
Osimhen’s next move may depend on his preferences, as teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea could re-enter the race if they are prepared to trigger his release clause. For now, PSG seems determined to bring Osimhen to the Parc des Princes and add to their attacking firepower.
