Patrick Dorgu to Manchester United a done deal

Reports in Italy claim that Patrick Dorgu’s move from Lecce to Manchester United is now a done deal, making him Ruben Amorim’s first signing as United manager.

According to multiple sources, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, United and Lecce have reached an agreement on a transfer package for the 20-year-old Denmark international.

There are conflicting reports on the exact transfer fee. La Gazzetta states that United will pay a total of €38m, with €32m-€33m guaranteed, while transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto suggest the deal is worth €35m, including bonuses.

Dorgu is reportedly preparing for his move to Manchester, with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming he has already started packing his belongings.

United had previously seen multiple bids rejected as Lecce held out for €40m, but the Italian club has now accepted a slightly lower fee. The move will make Dorgu Lecce’s most expensive sale in history, nearly doubling their previous record—the €19.5m sale of Morten Hjulmand to Sporting CP in 2023.

It is believed that Lecce’s 4-0 defeat to Inter Milan over the weekend was Dorgu’s last appearance in Serie A.

Since Amorim’s appointment, left wing-back has been identified as a priority position for reinforcement, and Dorgu’s signing was expected regardless of United’s broader transfer strategy.

Dorgu, 20, has made 53 Serie A appearances for Lecce since joining from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2022. He has also been capped four times by Denmark at the international level.

United is expected to officially announce the signing in the coming days.
