Patrick Dorgu made his Manchester United debut in the FA Cup clash against Leicester City, and while fans were impressed with his performance, they were left frustrated by his deployment out of position.
The 20-year-old Danish wing-back joined United from Lecce after protracted negotiations, with the Italian club eventually accepting a €30m offer plus €5m in bonuses.
Dorgu had been a standout performer for Lecce this season, contributing three goals and an assist in 21 Serie A appearances, excelling in his natural left-wing-back role.

Fans Frustrated by Right-Flank Deployment
Excitement grew when manager Ruben Amorim included Dorgu in the starting XI for the FA Cup tie.
However, supporters were puzzled to see him deployed on the right flank instead of his preferred left side.
Despite the unfamiliar role, Dorgu showcased his lightning pace and won six duels in the first half—more than any other player on the pitch. However, he was substituted at half-time with United trailing 1-0.
Backlash Against Amorim’s Decision
Fans took to social media to criticise Amorim, questioning why United prioritised signing a left-wing-back in January only to play him out of position. Many felt the decision hindered Dorgu’s effectiveness and unfairly disrupted his debut.
With United’s tactical setup under scrutiny, all eyes will be on how Amorim integrates the Danish youngster in his natural position in the coming weeks.
