Young Nigerian football prodigy Yaqub Usman-Malah has officially signed with Brito Sporting Club of Portugal, a team established in 1956. The 18-year-old was recently unveiled by the club, marking a significant step in his promising career.
Born in Nigeria in 2006, Yaqub honed his skills at Brooke College Football Academy in the United Kingdom before securing his contract with the Portuguese club. During his time at Brooke College, Yaqub demonstrated exceptional talent, netting 17 goals in 32 matches over 2,270 minutes of play. Remarkably, he achieved this without sustaining any injuries across 116 training days.
Tomasz Wasylik, the lead coach of the Under-17B team at Brooke College, praised Yaqub for his tactical versatility, technical prowess, and ability to excel in multiple positions on the field. “He’s a well-liked person and an inspiration to his teammates, thanks to his professionalism and unmatched work ethic,” Wasylik said.
Yaqub also showcased his skills in National School Cup competitions during the 2023/24 season, earning a reputation as a dynamic and reliable player. His performances caught the attention of Brito Sporting Club, who have now brought him on board to continue his football journey.
Expressing his pride and optimism, Yaqub’s father, Usman-Malah, wished his son success in his football career.
