Manchester United are already exploring potential replacements for manager Rúben Amorim following his underwhelming tenure at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese coach, who arrived with high expectations after his success at Sporting CP, has struggled to implement a clear playing identity, leading to inconsistent results and growing doubts within the club’s hierarchy.
United’s struggles have worsened under Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November with the hope of reviving the team’s fortunes. However, results have deteriorated, with the Red Devils winning just four of their first 14 Premier League games under his leadership.

Currently sitting 15th in the league after 25 matches, United are only 12 points above the relegation zone—though a drop to the Championship remains highly unlikely. Amorim has attempted to impose his tactical philosophy, but his rigid approach has reportedly led to frustration within the squad.
According to the Daily Mail, some players are ‘beginning to lose faith’ as the manager refuses to adapt his system.
Despite growing concerns, the United board has decided to keep Amorim in charge until the end of the season unless results spiral further. However, discussions about his successor have already begun, with the club aiming to return to Europe’s elite.
Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel, and Mauricio Pochettino are among the potential candidates being considered for the role. For Amorim, the coming months will be crucial in determining whether he can salvage his tenure or face an early exit from Old Trafford.
