Manchester City and AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement for the loan of veteran defender Kyle Walker.
The 34-year-old, who has won 17 trophies during his time at City, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League, is set to leave the club he joined for £50 million from Tottenham in 2017.
Walker, who was appointed City’s captain this season, has chosen to exit Pep Guardiola’s side before the campaign concludes.
According to Sky Sports Italy, Walker will join AC Milan on loan, with the Serie A club holding an option to purchase the England international for €5 million (£4.2m). If the move is made permanent, Walker is expected to sign a deal with Milan running until 2027. The defender is scheduled to arrive in Italy on Thursday to finalize the transfer.
Earlier this month, City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed Walker’s desire to leave.
“Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at the end of his career,” Guardiola revealed. “In his mind, he would like to explore it, to go to another country, to play the last years [somewhere else] for many reasons. For that reason, I prefer playing other players whose mind is here.”
AC Milan currently sits eighth in Serie A, 19 points adrift of league leaders Napoli. In the Champions League, the Rossoneri remain in contention for an automatic place in the knockout stage, with two group games remaining.
