Haaland signs 9.5-year contract with Man City worth £500,000-a-week

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has committed his future to the Premier League champions by signing a record-breaking 9.5-year contract extension, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2034.
The 24-year-old Norwegian’s previous deal was set to expire in June 2027, but the new agreement extends his stay by seven years, making it the longest contract in Premier League history. Haaland will reportedly earn £500,000 ($610,000) per week under the terms of the new deal.

Announcing the news, City posted on their X account: “Erling’s here to stay! We’re thrilled to announce Erling Haaland has extended his contract at City to 2034.”

Haaland has been a transformative figure for City since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. In his debut season, he scored an astonishing 52 goals across all competitions, propelling the club to a historic treble of the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League. Last season, he netted another 38 goals as City claimed their fourth consecutive Premier League title. His overall tally stands at 111 goals in 126 games for the club.

Speaking about his new contract, Haaland expressed his delight.
“I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club. Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters. This environment brings out the best in everyone. I’m proud to be City no matter what.”

Outgoing City director of football Txiki Begiristain hailed the extension as a landmark moment for the club.

“Everyone at the club is absolutely delighted that Erling has signed his new contract. His incredible impact and record-breaking numbers speak for themselves, and this long-term deal highlights both our commitment to him and his belief in our project.”

The announcement comes during a challenging season for City, who currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool. The contract also underscores Haaland’s faith in the club amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding a major disciplinary case. City are awaiting the outcome of an independent commission hearing related to over 100 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules—charges the club has consistently denied.

Haaland’s extension follows manager Pep Guardiola’s recent decision to sign a two-year contract extension of his own, further solidifying the club’s long-term vision.
