Diallo nets hat-trick as Man United thrash Southampton 3-1

Amad Diallo delivered a sensational performance, scoring a 12-minute hat-trick to help Manchester United overturn a deficit and defeat Premier League bottom club Southampton 3-1 on Thursday.

The Ivorian winger, who has been Man United’s standout player this season, equalised in the 82nd minute before netting the go-ahead goal in the 90th. Diallo sealed his hat-trick in stoppage time after capitalising on a defensive error by Taylor Harwood-Bellis, giving the scoreline a flattering finish for the Red Devils.

Southampton, fighting to avoid ending the season as the Premier League’s worst-ever side with just one win, had taken a deserved first-half lead through a Manuel Ugarte own goal. Despite several opportunities to extend their advantage, the Saints were ultimately undone by Diallo’s brilliance.

The 21-year-old has now emerged as United’s saviour in recent weeks, following his winning goal against Manchester City and a late equalizer versus Liverpool.

“Today we showed at the end we were the best team,” Diallo told TNT Sports. “I am so happy for the win today because this team deserves it. I am ready to play every position where the manager likes to put me.”

United manager Ruben Amorim hailed Diallo’s performance, emphasizing the winger’s attacking impact.
“He pushes the other team into the final third — that is really important,” Amorim said. “We didn’t have a good game, but at this moment, winning is the most important thing.”

Southampton manager Ivan Juric was left ruing missed opportunities as his side’s dismal season continued.

Manchester United will hope this late comeback marks a turning point in their campaign as they look to rebuild momentum after a shaky run of form.
