Chelsea have initiated talks for a potential summer signing of Tosin Adarabioyo, 26-year-old Fulham defender of Nigerian descent, who is also on Newcastle United’s radar, reports are saying.
Adarabioyo is poised to become a free agent at the end of the 2023/24 season after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension with Fulham.
According to a report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, the Blues have expressed interest in Adarabioyo. The 26-year-old defender is set to depart Craven Cottage as a free agent in the upcoming summer transfer window,
Since he arrived from Manchester City in September 2020, Adarabioyo has cemented his position as a key player for Fulham. Over the past four years, the British-Nigerian-born centre-back has exhibited consistent growth, serving as a linchpin in the West London club’s backline.
With 132 appearances for Fulham, Adarabioyo has contributed five goals and two assists. However, his tenure at Craven Cottage is set to conclude after the 2023/24 season, as his contract with the club expires on July 1.
A potential move within the Premier League looms large, with several notable teams eyeing Adarabioyo.
Recent reports have linked the former Manchester youth player heavily with Newcastle United. However, Chelsea, located just across West London, has also shown keen interest.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo is logical considering their impending loss of Thiago Silva, who will depart as a free agent, and the uncertain future of Trevoh Chalobah at Stamford Bridge.
