Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman delivered a stellar performance off the bench, scoring his fourth Champions League goal and providing an assist as Atalanta thrashed Sturm Graz 5-0 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Lookman entered the match at the start of the second half, replacing Atalanta’s top scorer Mateo Retegui. He wasted no time making an impact, heading in a precise cross to make it 4-0 before setting up the fifth goal for his team.
The reigning African Player of the Year showcased his exceptional form in Europe’s elite competition, bringing his tally to four goals and one assist from six games in the tournament.
Atalanta, now with 14 points from seven matches, have secured a place in the Champions League knockout play-offs and are well-positioned to qualify directly for the round of 16.
The Italian side will face a formidable challenge in their final group-stage game against Barcelona but require just a draw to advance directly to the next phase.
In Serie A, Lookman has also been instrumental, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in 18 matches to help Atalanta climb to third in the league standings. Overall, he has netted 14 goals and seven assists in 26 appearances for Atalanta across all competitions this season.
His contributions continue to drive Atalanta’s ambitions domestically and in Europe, solidifying his status as one of the team’s key players.
